Self-Portrait & Baking

Woot, woot! I am on a roll! I don't think I have ever scrapbooked this many pages in a row (4 in 3 days). Well, maybe except for when I did my little sister's scrapbook for her graduation gift.

Anyways, here is my cutie niece taking her very first self-portrait at my town's summerfest parade last year (2010).  I think it turned out pretty darn cute!

I used a sketch from PageMaps.
Materials Used:
Patterned Paper: My Mind's Eye
Cardstock: American Crafts
Number Stickers: Kiaser Crafts
Letters: Cricut (Doodletype)
Punch: Martha Stewart
Other: Sharpie, White Pen, Buttons

Brooklynn LOVES to help me bake.  Well, she likes to add a few ingredients and then eat the batter.

I lifted a layout by Suzy Plantamura from either Creating Keepsakes or Scrapbooks, etc.  I can't remember which one though..
Materials Used:
Patterned Paper: Echo Park, October Afternoon
Cardstock: Die Cuts with a View
Flowers: Prima
Letters: Cricut (Doodletype)
Other: Purple pen, twine, cooking charms, brads

As always, thank you for looking! I hope you are enjoying your weekend.

Sweet Baby & Zoo Safari

So I finally did so scrapbooking layouts.  It has been awhile since I did any of these.

I signed up for Scrapbook.com's July's Scraplift the Peroson Before You and I lifted Bubblegirl. This is of my sweet niece and me when she was 4 days old. When she was born, she got an infection and had to go to the NICU for 2 weeks.  It was scary seeing her in there, but she pulled through and is a happy, high energy little 3 year old.  I love this little girl so so much!
Materials Used:
Making Memories: pink scalloped pp
Echo Park: green crisscross, little heart, purple striped (title), and yellow scallop; stickers
Die Cuts with a View: blue journaling strips
Prima: Flowers

This is from last October when we went to the Omaha zoo for a little family day trip. Baby B was really excited to go. From what I heard, she was a little impatient waiting for me to get off of work. I used a sketch from Becky Fleck's  PageMaps 2 book.
Materials Used:
The Paper Studio: kraft cardstock, red cardstock (under the animal stickers)
Bella Blvd: teal crisscross pp, yellow/orange circles pp, flower pp, gray dotted pp, pink flower pp
Bazzill Dotted Swiss: teal cardstock (under the animal stickers)
Doodlebug Designs: animal, title stickers
Little Yellow Bicycle: pink letter stickers

I hope everyone's weekend is awesome.  This weekend was my town's summerfest.  We had a parade yesterday and I walked along side my employer's float.  It was a western themed float.  It was super hot, but really fun.  Last night, they also had an Amazing Race and I had to sit at one of the stops and make sure the teams finished their challenge.  It is just like the show.  The teams get a clue and have to figure out where they have to go and then they have a challenge they have to complete.  I was at stop number 3 and their challenge there was one team member had to eat a whole can of Spam and a pint of ice cream.  We only made them eat half of both because I think all the teams would still be there trying to eat that stuff.  Ick.  It was fun though!

Babies

I haven't scrapbooked this much in a couple months I think! I did this of my cutie patootie niece who really never played with babies, but every once in awhile she would take one for a stroll.
I used a sketch, but I can't remember where I got it from, so if this looks like one of your sketches, thank you!!

Products Used:
Patterned Paper, Stickers: Echo Park
Brown Cardstock: American Crafts

I watched the little Turk Face today while my sister went shopping, again. We were watching Scooby-Doo while laying in my bed this afternoon and I looked over at her and she was out. I snapped a few picture, careful not to wake her. However, when I went to get out of my bed and go scrap, she woke up. Do you like her bangs? She cut them herself yesterday. Well, my sister tried to fix them. I didn't see what it looked like after the fact.
After her nap, I had to take up her little coloring table from our garage so she could do some "scrapping-booking" with me in my room. It was cute how excited she got when she would cut and glue some of my old patterned paper. I tried to get a picture of her, but she refused to let me get one. Oh well, next time because I think she is going to be a little crafter!

I hope you all had a great weekend. I will be back soon with my 5 Things I Love Sunday post!

Did I Really Need This?

Probably not, but I got all this stuff anyways. I went to A Walk Down Memory Lane today after work to get zoo papers and only zoo papers. I walked out with all this stuff and no zoo papers. I got 3 paper packs... I love paper packs... some stamps, and a few single sheets of paper. Why, oh, why does this hobby have to come with such a shopping addiction? I feel as if I need all the newest, latest and greatest stuff out there.

Scrappy Layouts

My church had their monthly scrapbooking night tonight. I was there for 3 hours and I got 2 layouts done. I think that is pretty good for me!

Oh Brooklynn, you are such a silly little girl. I love you to bits though!
Sketch is by PageMaps

Last summer, I wanted to take a nice picture of Brooklynn in front of my stepmom's flowers, but this little girl never will stay still long enough for that to happen. So this picture is what I got. It will have to do until the flowers become pretty enough for me to try again. Isn't she a stinker or what?
Sketch is by So Sketchy!

I hope everyone has a wonderful crafty weekend! I have plans to scrap some more tomorrow and Sunday afternoon I have to watch the Turk Face.

Layouts

I really need to think of better blog post titles huh? Oh well. It has been forever since I last posted. I have gotten so busy and just plain tired. To make up for my lack of posting, here are 2 layouts that I did recently.

I did this layout for my critique group's (over at Scrapbook.com) January challenge. We had to use NO patterned paper, which for me, is hard considering I LOVE my patterned paper! I used a sketch from Becky Fleck's PageMaps 2 book. Love that book! This is my niece being a little stink pot! She is so adorable, I love her to bits! The title is one of her many nicknames that I have given her. :)
Material Used:
Kraft cardstock: The Paper Studio
Cardstock: yellow-The Paper Studio, teal & grey-Core'dinations, green-American Crafts, white-Bazzill
Chipboard:Basic Grey
Ink: Cat's Eye

This layout I did for Scrapbook.com's January Scraplift the Person Before You challenge. I had the honor of lifting ~{Puppet}~'s layout you can see here.
I really loved how she made a scallop around the edge of her layout and I really loved the white inking with the doodled border. I also loved her topic that she scrapped.
Materials Used:
Cardstock: Bazzill Basics Dotted Swiss
Patterned Paper: polka dotted-Pink Paislee, teal polka dotted-Echo Park, green-gcd studios
Flower: Prima
Misc: Buttons

zzz...

Happy belated New Year's! One of my New Year's goals is to become a better blogger, so I signed up for Elsie's Blog Love e-course (you can find info about it here). I have yet to fully get into the course, but I hope to soon!

I haven't made a layout in a long long time... I think it was a couple months ago when I sat down and made a layout. This is the layout I did on NYE. It is me and my niece and every time I visit her, we have to take pretend naps. I used a sketch out of Becky Fleck's PageMaps 2 book.
Products Used:
Pink Paislee (heart, polka dot pp)
Dream Street (green pp)
Scenic Route (cream lined pp)
October Afternoon (brown polka dotted pp, Notes card, date stickers)
Doodlebug Designs (teal scallop strips)
Bazzill Basics (pink title cs, title cs)
StampinUp! (owl, heart rubons)
Misc (button, twine)

I hope everyone had a fun filled Christmas holiday and Happy New Year!!

Long Overdue Layouts

Scrapbooking layouts, what are those? I haven't made a scrapbook page in about 3 months. I have been super busy making family Christmas cards and lots of birthday cards so I haven't really had any time to do a layout. I kinda miss it.

I thought it was about time to take a picture of the layouts I did 3 months ago. I know, how horrible is that that it took me that long to take pictures of them as well?

BIG RED TRACTOR... Here is my niece "driving" her papa's tractor. She loves to sit up here and pretend to drive. This is based off of an Inspired Blueprints sketch.
Products Used:
Cosmo Cricket (brown background)
My Mind's Eye (dotted and teal pp)
Doodlebug Design (title stickers, sun, tractor, hay bales, mouse, journaling spot)

24 THINGS, FAVORITES, WISHES... This is a layout for my book of me album. The journaling is just what the title is... 24 things about me, my favorite things, and wishes. This is based off of a Pagemaps sketch.
Products Used:
Bazzill Basics (kraft cardstock)
October Afternoon (patterned paper, journaling strips)
American Crafts [thickers] (title)
Cosmo Cricket (letter stickers)

SWINGING... This picture is horrible I know. My niece loves, loves, loves to swing. Every time she is at my house, she has to go on the swing set. I am happy now that she is at the age where she can pump herself! :) I stitched the pink border by hand. It took me some time, but it sure did come out nice. This is based off of an Inspired Blueprints sketch.
Products Used:
Dream Street (all patterned paper)
Core-dinations (pink and yellow cardstock)
American Crafts [thickers] (title)
Other (embroidery floss)

SWIMMING... These are pictures of my niece swimming when we went to the Black Hills on vacation in June 2009. We (my stepmom and dad) bought her a little Dollor Store blowup pool to swim in--she loved it!
Products Used:
Sassafras Lass (all patterned paper)
Other (purple cardstock--can't remember the brand)

Few Scrappy Things

I haven't been in the creating mood lately but I had to finish my niece's 3rd birthday invites. Turk wants to have a princess party, but I opted not to use princess paper so I just found some really girly paper and just put a stamped image of a castle on the bottom.

I also redid my baby page in my book of me and this is what I came up with.
I did this layout for the September Color Challenge at Scrapbook.com. We had to use red, aqua, and white as our main colors. I made this about how much I do not like to do the dishes. It has got to be my most hated chore ever! This is a 6x12 layout.
The weather here is getting cooler and that means fall is around the corner. Some trees are starting to turn pretty colors and am loving it!

More D.C. Layouts

Boy have I been slacking on the blogging lately! So sorry for that! Time has gotten away from me and by the time my head hits the pillow at night, I am completely out! My niece's birthday is coming up in October and I made her invites and had to make 30 of them. I have them all completed except for adding the photo and a small little touch. I will post pictures as soon as I get them all the way done. In the meantime, here are some more layouts from my trip to Washington D.C.

When we were walking behind the White House, we saw this lady who was living in this "tent" across the street. Locals say that people bring her food and such and she never leaves. At this time, 2006, she was protesting Former President Bush. She was a little creepy looking I'm not going to lie.

I attempted to take pictures of awesome sights at night, but back then I had just a film camera and they didn't turn out so well. I am so glad that I had friends who took awesome night pictures!

I am loving this layout! Just letting you know! :)

I hope everyone had a wonderful Labor Day! Fall is coming and I am extremely excited!! Cooler weather has been here in Northwest Iowa for about a week and I am loving it!

She Gets You In The End

Here is another layout I did for my Oh, Scrap! critique group challenge. We had to scrap about our favorite book, but I did my favorite author instead--Jodi Picoult! I love to get lost in her stories. She writes about things that can happen to anyone and I just love that when you get close to the end of the book, and you think you know what is going to happen, she throws you for a loop. I love it!!
I used a sketch for this layout.. It can be found here at Got Sketch?

Can I just say that I am in love with the new company Echo Park. I love the colors and the designs and it was kinda hard for me to cut into this patterned paper for this layout. I guess that is why I usually buy two of every pattern of paper I get.

Books, Books, and More Books

I made this layout for the August Scraplift the Person Before You challenge over at Scrapbook.com. I lifted CatScrapsHere.

There is just something about having a lot of books on my book shelves that I love. I love to get caught up in an awesome book and forget about life!

More D.C. Layouts

Just posting some more D.C. Layouts.

I love that guy sleeping on the metro behind Lisa.
More to come soon.

I [heart] My Job

This layout is based on a sketch out of a Creating Keepsakes magazine.

Hope all had a terrific Tuesday!

Washington D.C.

As promised, here are the first few layouts of my Washington D.C. album. I think I edited 50+ pictures of layouts (plus all the 2 pagers that I did). So the book is huge. I will show 5 layouts at a time so it's not overwhelming!

These photos that I took of my layouts turned out pretty bad. I didn't have good natural lighting and they came out kinda blurry. I need to learn to take better pictures :)

I went on this trip with my friend from college, Heidi and 2 of her friends from high school. I was so excited when Heidi asked me to go along on this trip and I was super nervous at the same time. I mean, I have never flown on a plane before this trip and I was terrified out of my mind. The plane ride was pretty smooth and I had a ton of fun on this trip. I would really love to go again sometime.

We were sight seeing while waiting to check into our hotel and we walked passed the White House. There were tons of black cars out in front and tons of people watching to see what was going on. Turns out that President Bush (this was back in 2006) was signing some important papers. Kinda cool. Too bad we didn't see him.

More to come soon!

Disaster Zone

How I don't lose my mind while scrapping is beyond me! I think I am one of the most messiest scrappers out there--just look at my table. Total disaster!

I have been working on my Washington D.C. trip album for what seems like forever. I think I actually started it shortly after we got back from the trip in 2006, but have pushed it to the side thinking that I will get it done eventually. I started back on the album when my church had their monthly crop figuring that would be the perfect time to actually finish this. This is just an on going project and I am almost done, I can see the finish line!
I promise I will post pictures of the album when I am completely done with it!

Layouts... I need to think of more creative titles!

I forgot to mention in my last post that I am a huge fan of scraplifting and using sketches. It takes a whole lot off the process of making a layout if I use a sketch or scraplift!

Over at Scrapbook.com, they have monthly challenges and for the month of June I joined the Scraplift the Person Before You challenge (long name... makes my fingers tired just typing it!).
I lifted this layout by AllAmy...

This picture is of my stepmom and Turk Face at Bear Country at the Black Hills. I love this picture of these two looking at the flowers! Turk Face is so attached to her grandma it kinda makes me jealous :) I lifted Kristi (scrappinnelly from sb.com) from our critique group challenge where we had to lift another member of the group.
Look at that adorable lip on little Turk Face! I love this little girl soooooooooooo much!

How can she not be my most favoritest person in the whole entire world? I mean just look at her and she might turn out to be your most favoritest person in the whole entire world!!! I say this to her every time I see her!
This is another lift of Kristi. Last summer, my family and I went to the Black Hills on vacation and we took our camper and stayed at a campground. Well, Turk Face must have gotten hungry before she fell alseep because when we went in the camper, we found a bag of chips in the pack-n-play with her.
